Why Solana?
by Bea Zobel
It has been pointed out that unfortunately, the Philippines did not
have the benefit of having large ancient monuments like Borodudor,
Pagan and Angkor Wat. Neither does it have Royal Palaces unlike Laos,
Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand. As such, there are less easily recognizable
sights to see, there are less of the type of tourist attractions which
one encounters in places like Europe.

Birds
of Solana Bezo Resort And Vicinity
Having one of the highest level of endemic species in the world, the
Philippines has 576 bird species recorded, 192 are endemic. It also
has one of the highest levels of threatened species and many species
are listed as ‘threatened’, ‘endangered’ or
‘critical’. The major reason for this situation is habitat
loss. Hence it is essential for all to actively and consciously act
on this condition. One of the most effective tools for this is educate
society about our environment and natural resources and how to conserve

Creepy
Critters
While most scuba divers seek out clear clean blue waters, scan open
lush reefs for colorful fish and chase down every large animal from
Manta rays to sharks, there is a select group of a few divers (mostly
underwater photographers), that purposely look for barren mud flats,
coral ruble and murky water in search for, what we underwater photographers
refer to as critters. Critters are a select group of animal comprising
of invertebrates, mollusks and fish, that for the most part are hard
to find, most often times rare and are not found on the usual dive spots
tour operators take their clients. We are not talking whales, sharks
and schooling fish here; we are talking half inch seahorse, 20mm shrimp
and marble size frogfish.
