CALABARZON Info
CALABARZON
Region IV-A
CALABARZON
is one of the regions of the Philippines. It is also designated
as Region IV-A and its regional capital is Calamba City in Laguna.
The region is composed of five provinces, namely: Cavite, Laguna,
Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon. The region's name is an acronym of
the names of these provinces, thus the name CALABARZON.
The
region is located in southwestern Luzon, just south and west of
Metro Manila and is the second most densely populated region.
CALABARZON
and MIMAROPA were previously combined together as Southern Tagalog,
until they were separated in 2002. Executive Order No. 246, dated
October 28, 2003, designated Calamba City as the regional center
of CALABARZON.
Component
Cities: Antipolo City (Rizal), Batangas City (Batangas), Calamba
City (Laguna), Cavite City (Cavite), Lipa City (Batangas), Lucena

MIMAROPA,
also known as Region IV-B, is a region of the Philippines located
in Luzon. The name is an acronym that stands for its provinces,
which are: Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and
Romblon (also Palawan, since transferred to another region). There
is only one city in the entire region: Calapan City in Oriental
Mindoro.
The region was created by Executive Order No. 103, dated May 17,
2002, as was Region IV-A (CALABARZON), after Region IV (Southern
Tagalog) was divided. Quezon City (the former regional center
of Southern Tagalog) remains the regional center of the MIMAROPA
region. Executive Order No. 429, dated May 23, 2005 transferred
Palawan to Region VI.
Administrative
Order No. 129 was issued on August 19, 2005, to "resolve"
the negative backlash and as part of the supervison of the transfer
process of Palawan from MIMAROPA to Western Visayas.
